Anna Faris has responded to comments from Mom creator Chuck Lorre, who wrote in his memoir that his initial doubts about casting her in the CBS sitcom were justified. In a statement reported by TMZ, Faris admitted that the remarks were painful to read.
“Yikes. Yes, I read a few things. I really didn’t see that coming. Of course it hurts,”
Faris said.
Lorre reportedly reflected on his initial reluctance to cast Faris in the lead role, later claiming that his doubts had been correct following her exit from the series after Season 7.
ANNA FARIS REFLECTS ON HER SEVEN YEARS ON MOM
Despite the criticism, Faris emphasized her appreciation for the opportunity and the people she worked with on the sitcom.
“Chuck gave me a job I loved, and for seven years I never took a day of it for granted,”
she said.
“I’m proud of what we made together, and nothing changes how grateful I am for those people and those years.”
Faris also shared a personal update, revealing that she had been sober for a year and a half. She noted that playing a character on a show about recovery eventually connected with her own life.
“I was on a show about recovery and then I lived it,”
Faris said, adding that she is now healthy, working, and happier than she has been in a long time.
The remarks have sparked renewed discussion about Faris’s departure from the series, which continued for one more season without her before ending in 2021. Entertainment Weekly also covered her response and the personal update she shared.
