A new BBC investigation has brought renewed scrutiny to Jared Leto, with multiple women alleging sexual misconduct in incidents they say occurred between 2002 and 2016. The allegations are presented in the documentary Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, which features several women sharing their experiences publicly for the first time.
According to the BBC, ten women spoke to its investigation, with nine appearing in the documentary. The reported allegations include claims of sexual assault, grooming, inappropriate sexual advances, and alleged attempts to use non-disclosure agreements during communications with some of the women.
BBC report outlines multiple allegations
The investigation includes accounts from four women who say they were teenagers at the time of the alleged incidents. One woman alleges she was sexually assaulted in a motel bathroom when she was 17. Another claims Leto threatened to sexually assault her when she was 19 while they were alone in a hotel room.
The report also includes allegations from a woman who says she had sexual contact with Leto at age 17 in California, where the age of consent is 18. Another woman alleges she was groomed from age 16 through explicit phone calls and was later asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement, which she says she declined.
The BBC also reports that several other women described similar experiences involving inappropriate communications.
