Beyoncé is facing a copyright lawsuit over her Renaissance track “Alien Superstar,” with Hirose Enterprise and producer Shuji Hirose alleging that the song contains an unauthorized sample.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the dispute concerns the spoken-word introduction of “Alien Superstar.” Hirose Enterprise claims it owns rights to “Moonraker,” performed by John Holiday, and alleges Beyoncé’s team used material from the song without obtaining a license before Renaissance was released in 2022.

The lawsuit claims a license was obtained from Holiday several weeks after the album’s release. However, Hirose allegedly argues that Holiday had already transferred his entire interest in the composition to Hirose decades earlier.

The company says it subsequently notified Beyoncé’s company about the alleged infringement, but claims the track has continued to be commercially distributed.

Hirose Enterprise is seeking an injunction that would prevent continued exploitation of the disputed material, along with unspecified monetary damages. The allegations have not been established in court, and Beyoncé’s side has not been reported as having been found liable.
