The historic UFC Freedom 250 event may have gone off without incident, but new revelations from Dana White suggest the situation behind the scenes was far more serious than initially reported. In a recent interview, the UFC president confirmed that multiple threats were identified in the lead-up to the event, not just the widely reported alleged drone attack plot.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, White explained that security concerns were ongoing throughout the week, but emphasized that law enforcement agencies handled the situation effectively. The event ultimately took place in Washington, D.C., without disruption, despite what authorities described as credible threats.

FBI Investigation Uncovers Alleged Attack Plot

According to reports, the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested five individuals, including a 19-year-old suspect, in connection with an alleged plan targeting the White House during the same timeframe as UFC Freedom 250. Authorities claim the group intended to use drones equipped with explosives along with a sniper rifle as part of the attack.

While details remain under investigation, the arrests prevented any escalation, and no injuries were reported. The swift action by federal authorities ensured that both the public and event attendees remained safe during what could have been a dangerous situation.

Dana White acknowledged that the drone-related threat was only one part of a broader security picture.

“There was more than that [plot]. There was more than that,”

White said during the interview.

Despite the alarming nature of the threats, White maintained that he had full confidence in the authorities managing the situation. He revealed that he was kept informed in real time about developments as they unfolded.

“I was in the loop on all of the stuff that was happening in real time,”

White shared.

The UFC president went on to commend the efforts of federal agencies, particularly the FBI, for their handling of the situation.

“The FBI is so good. These guys are so good at what they do… these guys are incredible,”

he added.

White’s comments highlight the level of coordination required to secure an event of this scale, especially one attracting global attention.

UFC Freedom 250 took place in Washington, D.C., under tight security measures

“No Safer Place in America,” Says UFC President

While acknowledging the seriousness of the threats, White ultimately stressed that fans and participants were never in danger during the event itself. He pointed to the extensive security measures implemented across Washington, D.C., as a key factor in ensuring safety.

“There was no safer place in America to be Sunday night than in D.C.,”

White stated.

He also noted that high-profile events often attract unwanted attention, describing such threats as an unfortunate but expected reality when organizing large-scale spectacles.

“These are the kind of events that bring the nuts out,”

he remarked, suggesting that heightened risk comes with the territory of major global productions.

UFC Freedom 250 Still Delivers on a Historic Night

Despite the behind-the-scenes tension, UFC Freedom 250 proceeded as planned and delivered a major night for the promotion. The event, which was closely tied to national celebrations, drew significant attention both domestically and internationally.

White also addressed several other aspects of the event during the interview, including viewership numbers, fighter performances, and the scale of the production. From dramatic walkouts to high-profile matchups, the event reinforced UFC’s ability to stage massive spectacles even under challenging circumstances.

Looking ahead, White hinted at even bigger ambitions for future UFC events, building on the success of Freedom 250.
