Rick Ross learned during his latest court appearance that his celebrity status would not give him preferential treatment. The rapper, whose real name is William Roberts II, appeared before Judge Mindy Glazer on October 1 following his arrest on battery-related charges in Miami.

According to TMZ, Ross’ attorney Bradley Horenstein asked whether his release could be expedited because of his fame and concerns about his safety while incarcerated.

Judge Glazer dismissed the argument, making it clear that Ross would be handled under the same standards as everyone else appearing before her.

Judge Says Rick Ross Will Be Treated Like Everyone Else

During the hearing, Glazer reportedly told Ross,

“I have no idea who you are,”

before adding that he would be treated fairly

“just like everybody else here.”

The exchange came shortly after Ross turned himself in following an investigation into allegations made by a former girlfriend. TMZ previously reported that the woman accused the rapper of becoming violent during an alleged August 28 incident.

Rick Ross The rapper appeared in Miami court following his arrest on battery charges.

According to law enforcement sources cited by TMZ, the woman alleged that Ross slapped and struck her, choked her until she could not breathe, pulled her by her ponytail and slammed her against a wall. She reported the allegations to police on September 29.

Ross was arrested on charges of felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery. He has pleaded not guilty to both allegations.

His attorneys have maintained that Ross is not guilty and have characterized the accusations against him as wrongful. The allegations remain claims, and the case is proceeding through the legal system.

The courtroom exchange quickly drew attention because of the contrast between Ross’ enormous public profile and the judge’s response. While the rapper is widely known for his music career and performances, Glazer made clear that celebrity recognition would not influence how his case was handled.
