A Luigi Mangione supporter has drawn attention online after expressing agreement with comments defending the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Lena Weissbrot, one of the members of a group of Mangione supporters known as the “Mangionistas,” shared a video highlighting reactions from people who expressed support for Mangione after his recent guilty plea.
Weissbrot wrote that the response section
“does not disappoint”
and added that
“a plurality of people feel exactly like I do,”
according to TMZ.
The comments shared by Weissbrot focused on criticism of Thompson and reactions connected to public frustration over UnitedHealthcare’s policies. Many commenters argued that Thompson’s role at the company made him responsible for broader issues, while others criticized those views and pointed to the impact on Thompson’s family.
The controversy comes after Mangione pleaded guilty to two federal stalking charges and admitted in court that he killed Thompson. According to reports, no plea agreement has been finalized, leaving sentencing to the court’s decision.
Mangione’s legal team has argued that prosecutors are using him as a “pawn” in the case, while federal sentencing guidelines reportedly recommend a lengthy prison term. The case continues to attract significant public attention because of the divide between supporters who view Mangione through the lens of healthcare criticism and those condemning the violence.
