Reacher star Alan Ritchson and his wife, Catherine Ritchson, have announced that they are ending their marriage after 20 years together. The couple shared the news in a joint social media statement on September 12, explaining that they intend to remain involved in each other’s lives while focusing on their three children.
“After twenty years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way,”
the couple wrote. They added that they had built a life and family together and that their three sons would remain
“the center of our world.”
Alan and Catherine Ritchson’s Separation Follows Earlier Divorce Filing
The announcement follows an earlier reported divorce filing. According to TMZ, legal documents indicate that Ritchson filed for divorce in December 2025, before the couple reconciled in March 2026. Their latest statement now confirms that they have ultimately decided to end their marriage.
Neither Alan nor Catherine has publicly identified a specific reason for their separation. Their statement instead focused on maintaining mutual respect and establishing a strong co-parenting relationship.
“The best gift we can give one another — and our boys — right now is friendship, grace and a commitment to becoming the strongest co-parents we can be,”
they said.
The couple first met while they were teenagers and later reconnected before marrying on May 12, 2006. They went on to have three sons, Calem, Edan and Amory. PEOPLE reports that both have generally kept their relationship away from intense public scrutiny despite occasionally sharing family milestones.
The Ritchsons have now asked fans and the media to respect their privacy, particularly for the sake of their children. Their announcement makes clear that although their marriage is ending, they intend to continue working together as parents.
For Ritchson, the separation comes while his career remains heavily associated with Amazon’s successful Reacher series, in which he plays the titular former military investigator.
