Simon Cowell is reportedly set to miss several weeks of America’s Got Talent as he undergoes a routine surgical procedure related to his back. According to TMZ, the 66-year-old television personality will temporarily step away from the judges’ table, with no major new health crisis reported.
Cowell’s upcoming absence is connected to his history of back problems, which notably followed his serious electric-bike accident in 2020. The incident required major surgery and kept him away from America’s Got Talent during part of that season.
It is currently unclear who will replace Cowell during his recovery or exactly when he will return. America’s Got Talent Season 21 is currently in its live quarterfinals, with NBC confirming the ongoing schedule for the competition.
Cowell has been a key figure on AGT for years, alongside judges Howie Mandel, Mel B and Sofía Vergara. TMZ reported that the procedure is considered routine, although Cowell is expected to miss multiple episodes while recovering.
