In their announcement, Nika and Natalie said they had hoped Nicole would recover and share her story with fans. Natalie said,
“We thought she’d be here sharing her story of earthly healing. Instead, we’re sharing her story of heavenly healing and she’s at peace and no longer suffering.”
The sisters also remembered Nicole’s determination throughout treatment. She continued doing CrossFit during chemotherapy and encouraged those around her not to live in fear.
In a tribute on the group’s website, they described her as “our leader and our best friend.” A private memorial service has already been held, with fans able to make donations to one of Nicole’s favorite charities through the band’s website.
Nicole formed Taylor Red with her identical triplet sisters. The group initially performed as Red Roots and released its debut album, Red Roots, in 2011. The trio later released The Middle of Nowhere and Triplicity before adopting the Taylor Red name in 2018.
The sisters continued building their audience through live performances and social media. Their 2021 single “Country Money” gained significant attention on TikTok, introducing their country music to a wider audience.
