Tiger Woods has pleaded guilty to reckless driving and refusing to submit to a lawful test following his March rollover crash in Florida. The agreement resolves the misdemeanor case that initially included a DUI charge and results in Woods losing his driver’s license for five years.
The 50-year-old golfer appeared in Martin County court on September 2 alongside his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump. According to TMZ, Woods also faces a $1,000 fine, while the judge warned that driving during the suspension could result in jail time.
Tiger Woods’ Florida Crash Led to the Plea Agreement
The case stems from a March 27 crash near Woods’ Jupiter Island home. Authorities said his Range Rover struck a trailer attached to a pickup truck before overturning, although neither Woods nor the other driver was injured. Woods was subsequently arrested after deputies reported signs of impairment.
A breath test showed no alcohol in Woods’ system, but authorities said he refused to provide a urine sample. Investigators also reported finding two hydrocodone pills on Woods when he was arrested, although prosecutors later faced difficulties establishing that he was impaired by the medication at the time of the crash.
WPTV reported that State Attorney Thomas Bakkedahl said two toxicologists found insufficient evidence to prove Woods was impaired by hydrocodone. That development helped pave the way for the DUI charge to be resolved through the reckless-driving plea instead.
Woods had initially pleaded not guilty to DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test. Following the crash, he stepped away from golf and sought treatment before returning to the United States in June.
The five-year license suspension now adds another consequence to a case that has kept Woods away from competitive golf for much of 2026. The golfer has also faced previous driving-related incidents, including a 2017 Florida arrest that was resolved with a reckless-driving plea.
